Follow this step-by-step tutorial I drew and wrote and you will soon learn how to make a Chinese Lucky Star.

It isn't hard (once you get a hang of it) and you can put the stars in a a nice jar and give it away as a gift.

What you need:
A strip of paper

Tie a knot, at the end of the strip, loosely.
The knot should now have shape of a pentagon.

Fold the short end into the knot as the picture shows.

Now fold the long end back around the knot.
Make sure it always has the shape of a pentagon.

Continue wrapping it.
Make soft crease so it will be a litte puffy.

Fold it down behind the knot.
Don't press it too hard or it will get too flat.

Fold the long end up..

..fold back and down..

..fold it to the side..

..fold back and up.

Now slip in the long end into the knot.
Tuck it all the way in so it comes out at the opposite side.

Cut off the long end so you only have the pentagon left.

Hold it with one hand at the side edges.
Use the other hand to pinch the corners, one at a time as shown on the picture.

Ta-da!
Now you should have a finished Lucky Star ready to be given away to somebody special!
