Follow this step-by-step tutorial I drew and wrote and you will soon learn how to make a Chinese Lucky Star.
It isn't hard (once you get a hang of it) and you can put the stars in a a nice jar and give it away as a gift.
What you need:
A strip of paper
Tie a knot, at the end of the strip, loosely.
The knot should now have shape of a pentagon. |
Fold the short end into the knot as the picture shows. |
Now fold the long end back around the knot.
Make sure it always has the shape of a pentagon. |
Continue wrapping it.
Make soft crease so it will be a litte puffy. |
Fold it down behind the knot.
Don't press it too hard or it will get too flat. |
Fold the long end up.. |
..fold back and down.. |
..fold it to the side.. |
..fold back and up. |
Now slip in the long end into the knot.
Tuck it all the way in so it comes out at the opposite side. |
Cut off the long end so you only have the pentagon left. |
Hold it with one hand at the side edges.
Use the other hand to pinch the corners, one at a time as shown on the picture. |
Ta-da!
Now you should have a finished Lucky Star ready to be given away to somebody special! |
